A forest you can walk through from a desk
RTK drone and 360-degree capture turned into a three-dimensional forest model for immersive viewing.
Maps flatten forests. For planners, researchers and visitors who cannot reach a site, a three-dimensional model shows canopy structure, water channels and access routes in a way an orthophoto cannot.
Capture
We combine RTK drone photography above the canopy with 360-degree camera capture beneath it, so the model holds together from treetop to ground.
Reconstruction
Imagery is aligned and reconstructed in Agisoft Metashape, cleaned and measured in CloudCompare, and prepared for real-time viewing in Unreal Engine 5. Where fine foliage defeats conventional meshing, we use Gaussian splatting to keep the scene faithful.
Result
A navigable model that can be shown on a screen or in a VR headset, with real-world scale and position, and that can be measured as well as viewed.
